Dr. Madalen Brooks (she/her)

Board Member

Dr. Maddie graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a Bachelor’s in Criminology/Criminal Justice & a minor in Psychology on a path geared toward becoming an attorney. After a series of traumatic events in her life, she found Traditional Chinese Medicine and discovered its profound, natural techniques to combat mental-emotional dis-ease & rediscover her power. She also started to realize how pharmaceuticals were readily given out & caused side effects calling for more medications to try to rid those side effects. This is a never ending cycle seen with many, including her mother- a multiple sclerosis warrior.
As a mother of two & trained as a doula by the Midwest Maternal Child Institute, Dr. Maddie has a special interest in supporting women transitioning into motherhood. She is committed to improving the birth outcomes & experiences of all families. Dr. Maddie does this by building relationships of trust & restoring birthing knowledge in a healthcare crisis fueled by structural racism that drives significant racial disparities in maternal & infant morbidity & mortality, particularly affecting BIPOC and their experiences with birth.
Dr. Maddie is a proud graduate of one of the first established schools of Asian Medicine in the United States, the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. She is licensed by the State of Illinois & is certified by the National Certification of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine. Dr. Maddie received her Doctorate from Pacific College of Health & Science, San Diego. As an advocate of mindful movement, she is a certified, multi-faceted yoga teacher with a specialty in Hot Yoga.

Dr. Maddie believes wholeheartedly in GTWC’s missions of integrating mental and physical wellness as well as providing high quality training to therapists and low-cost therapy services to anyone who wants them.
